Within the department, there are three research laboratories whose members conduct studies related to, among others, the following areas:
Distributed Computing Laboratory (headed by Dr. Eng. Anna Kobusińska, Associate Professor)
- reliability of distributed processing, in particular replication and state recovery models;
- high-reliability mechanisms;
- management of distributed, cloud, and edge systems;
- exploration of distributed data;
- network technologies;
- blockchain technology;
- big data processing;
- distributed recommendation systems;
- intelligent edge computing;
- Business Process Intelligence (BPI) and AI;
- Process and data mining.
Concurrent Systems Laboratory (headed by Dr. Eng. Paweł T. Wojciechowski, Associate Professor)
- analysis, modelling, and design of information systems;
- distributed systems (replication and consistency models, blockchains, cloud computing);
- concurrent programming (transactional memory, non-blocking data structures);
- formal verification.
Cryptography and Cybersecurity Laboratory (headed by Dr. Eng. Anna Grocholewska-Czuryło)
- design and quality assessment of symmetric cryptography algorithms;
- evaluation of randomness and performance of round-key generators;
- quantum and post-quantum cryptography.
